Best mirrored swimming goggles

When choosing mirrored swimming goggles, the model matters more than the mirrored coating itself. A compact pair of competition goggles and a comfortable pair of training goggles can both have mirrored lenses, but they feel very different once you put them on.

For competition, we usually recommend mirrored lenses. For training, the choice depends more on the light and your personal preference. If you want to know when mirrored lenses are useful, read When should you choose mirrored swimming goggles?. In this article, we look at the best models.

Arena Cobra Ultra Swipe Mirror: for a deep race fit

The Arena Cobra Ultra is one of our first choices for competition swimmers who prefer very compact goggles. The mirrored version combines this race fit with Arena Swipe anti-fog.

Based on our fitting experience, the Ultra sits relatively deep in the eye socket. This gives it a close fit, but the lens may come close to longer eyelashes. If this shape suits your face, it is a strong choice for competition.

Arena Cobra Edge Swipe Mirror: more room around the eyes

The Arena Cobra Edge is at a similar level to the Ultra, but feels different around the eyes.

Based on our fitting experience, the Edge sits slightly further from the eye and leaves more room for the eyelashes. This makes it particularly interesting if you want true competition goggles but find the Ultra sits too deep.

We do not consider either the Ultra or the Edge a clear overall winner. The best choice depends largely on the shape of your face.

Speedo Fastskin Pure Focus Mirror: designed for hydrodynamics

The Speedo Fastskin Pure Focus is our most streamlined Speedo option for competition.

The goggles have a compact, race-focused fit, but based on our fitting experience, sit slightly less deep than the Cobra Ultra. This may suit you if you are looking for distinctive competition goggles without the same deep position around the eye.

Speedo Fastskin Hyper Elite Mirror: similar level, different fit

The Speedo Fastskin Hyper Elite is also designed for competition. The Pure Focus is the more streamlined option, while the Hyper Elite has a different seal and may therefore fit some face shapes better.

For that reason, we would not choose between these two based on specifications alone. If both meet your technical requirements, let the fit decide.

Speedo Fastskin Speed Socket 2.0 Mirror: a distinctive race fit

The Fastskin Speed Socket 2.0 has its own low-profile fit and comes with several interchangeable nose bridges.

We see it primarily as a specialist competition option. Some swimmers get a good fit straight away, while the Pure Focus or Hyper Elite fits other faces noticeably better. Choose it if this particular shape suits you.

Arena Air Sonic Mirror: for training and first competitions

The Arena Air Sonic is a good example of how mirrored lenses are not only for dedicated race goggles.

We see the Air Sonic primarily as training goggles that can also be used for competition. This makes the Mirror version an interesting option for new competition swimmers, or for swimmers who like mirrored lenses during training but do not want a deep Cobra fit.

Speedo Biofuse 2.0 Mirror: comfort during training

For us, the Speedo Biofuse 2.0 is clearly designed for training. Its seal sits more loosely around the eye, with comfort taking priority over the fit of the Fastskin models.

The Mirror version makes sense if you want to combine this comfortable fit with reduced glare and reflections. For competition, we would not recommend the Biofuse over dedicated race goggles.

Which mirrored swimming goggles would we choose?

For a serious competition swimmer, we would first look at the competition goggles range, including the Cobra Ultra, Cobra Edge, Pure Focus, Hyper Elite and Speed Socket 2.0. The best option depends largely on your face shape and how compact you want the goggles to be.

For training and first competitions, the Air Sonic Mirror is a more accessible option. If comfort during longer training sessions is the priority, the Biofuse 2.0 Mirror is the more suitable choice.

Choose the type of goggles and fit first. The mirrored coating can then be a useful feature for competition and training in bright conditions, but it does not determine whether the goggles fit your face well.
