Best Speedo swimming goggles

With Speedo, the differences between models are greater than their names may sometimes suggest. Pure Focus and Biofuse 2.0 are both Speedo swimming goggles, but they are designed for very different uses. That is why we are not looking for one overall winner here, but the best choice for each type of swimmer.

If you would first like to browse the full range, you can visit the Speedo swimming goggles collection. Below, we focus only on the models we consider strongest for their specific intended use.

Our Speedo choices by use

Use Model Why
Racing, as streamlined as possible Fastskin Pure Focus Compact, distinctive race fit
Racing, alternative Fastskin fit Fastskin Hyper Elite Full-featured racing goggles with a different seal
Racing, specific low-profile fit Fastskin Speed Socket 2.0 Adapts well to individual face shapes
Training and racing Vanquisher 3.0 A sporty middle ground
Training and comfort Biofuse 2.0 Roomier, softer training fit

Fastskin Pure Focus: our most streamlined Speedo choice

The Speedo Fastskin Pure Focus is, in our view, the most distinctive choice when hydrodynamics and a compact race fit are the priorities. Speedo positions Pure Focus as a top model within the Fastskin range.

The goggles sit compactly and closely around the eyes. This makes them interesting for serious racing, but only when the shape suits your face well. A racing profile offers little benefit if you need to tighten the strap excessively to create a seal.

Fastskin Hyper Elite: the same level, a different fit

The Speedo Fastskin Hyper Elite is also a full-featured pair of competition goggles. We would not rank it below Pure Focus as though it were an inferior version.

Pure Focus is the more streamlined choice. Hyper Elite has a different seal and may therefore fit more comfortably on some faces. If both models meet your technical requirements, let the fit be the deciding factor.

Fastskin Speed Socket 2.0: choose it for the fit

The Fastskin Speed Socket 2.0 has its own low-profile fit and several interchangeable nose bridges.

We see it primarily as a specific racing choice. Some swimmers get an immediate, good seal with this model, while Pure Focus or Hyper Elite clearly fits better on other faces. We would therefore not position Speed Socket mainly as a more affordable Fastskin: its shape is the main reason to choose it.

Vanquisher 3.0: for training and racing

The Speedo Vanquisher 3.0 sits between comfortable training goggles and the more distinctive Fastskin models. Speedo designed the model for training, but its sporty fit can also be used for racing.

This makes Vanquisher interesting if you want one pair of goggles for serious training and racing. For a beginner competitive swimmer, it can also be a more comfortable step than moving straight to the most compact Fastskin fit.

Biofuse 2.0: best Speedo choice for comfort during training

The Speedo Biofuse 2.0 is, in our view, clearly a pair of training goggles. The seal is roomier and softer than on the Fastskin models, with comfort taking centre stage.

That is exactly the advantage during longer training sessions. For racing, we would not recommend Biofuse as the first choice; the Speedo competition goggles are designed more specifically for that purpose.

Which Speedo swimming goggles would we choose?

If you compete and want a true pair of racing goggles, compare Pure Focus, Hyper Elite and Speed Socket 2.0 side by side. Pure Focus is the most streamlined, but the best of the three is the one that seals well without excessive strap tension.

If you want one pair of goggles for training and racing, Vanquisher 3.0 is the more interesting option. If comfortable training is your main priority, we would start with Biofuse 2.0.
